We keep cookies to a minimum. The BugsQA website works without any, and analytics cookies are set only if you say yes.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser so it can remember something about your visit. Similar technologies, such as local storage, work in a similar way, and this policy covers them too. "First-party" cookies are set by our website, and "third-party" cookies are set by another company's service used on our website.

These keep the website working and cannot be switched off. Today our website does not need any. When we add the cookie banner, it will store your choice so we do not ask again on every page:

Analytics cookies

These help us understand which pages are useful and how visitors find us, so we can improve the website. We use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, and only after you accept analytics cookies. If you refuse, or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, these cookies are not set.

Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months. Google describes how it uses this data at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies.

Other third-party services

Some services on our website do not set cookies but still receive basic technical data, such as your IP address, when a page loads:

  • Vercel, which hosts the website.
  • [form service, e.g. Formspree], which receives form submissions and may use spam protection when you send a form.

Our Privacy Policy explains how this data is handled.

Your choices

  • Cookie banner. Accept or refuse analytics cookies when you first visit. You can change your choice later from the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.
  • Browser settings. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. Blocking all cookies will not break our website.
  • Google Analytics opt-out. Google offers a browser add-on that stops Google Analytics on every site.
  • Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends this signal, we treat it as a refusal of analytics cookies.

Changes to this policy

When we add or remove a cookie, we update this page and the "last updated" date at the top. If we ever add a new type of cookie, we will ask for your consent again.
