About BugsQA: a small nearshore QA team from Colombia

How BugsQA started

BugsQA grew out of two freelance careers that kept running into the same problem from different sides.

Juan has spent the last two years testing web platforms and mobile apps for startups and product teams: finding the bugs, documenting them and retesting the fixes. Camilo has spent his working on websites for agencies, online stores and real estate businesses, where a broken form, a bad redirect or a slow page shows up quickly as lost traffic and lost leads.

Both of us work remotely with clients through Upwork, and both of us kept seeing small teams ship releases without anyone whose job was to check them. So we combined what we do: Juan’s testing, and Camilo’s client work and website experience. BugsQA is the result, a QA service for web and mobile apps with clear reports and direct communication.

The team

Two people, two clear roles. Everything below comes from our work history and client reviews on Upwork, where both of us are Top Rated Plus with a 100% Job Success score.

How we work together on your project

One of us owns the conversation with your team, the other owns the testing, and both of us review what you receive.

  1. 01

    Scope

Camilo runs the first call: what you are shipping, where it runs, deadlines and the risks that worry you most.

  2. 02

    Plan and test

Juan turns that into a test plan and test cases, then tests the release on the agreed browsers and devices.

  3. 03

    Report

You get reproducible bug reports with steps, expected and actual results, environment and screenshots or video.

  4. 04

    Retest and summarize

Juan verifies the fixes, and you get a short summary of what passed, what failed and what is still open.

Why work with a small QA team

We are not a large outsourcing company, and we do not pretend to be. Here is what that means for you.

You talk to the people doing the work

There are no account managers in between. The person who scopes your project and the person who tests it are the two of us.

Same working hours as US teams

We work from Cali, Colombia, which overlaps with US business hours, so bugs get discussed and retested the same day.

A limited number of projects

A small team means we take on only what we can test properly, and we tell you upfront if something is outside our scope.
